Larches, flowers and Alpine Meadows
I love larches, those weird tree that unlike pines loose their needles over winter. The new needles the larches grow in spring are of an almost otherworldly shade of green. Many new leaves have incredible shades of green in spring but the one from the new larch needles are hard to beat.

So on a hot summer day together with family we hiked a loop that took us through alpine meadows filled with colourful flowers and dotted with lush larches nested in the grand theater of the dolomites.

The blue sky scattered with white fluffy clouds and the different shades of green from the meadows and the larches made for some incredible views.

The first part of the trail we hiked on gently cut through the slopy side of a mountain.

In some parts the meadow was full of colorful flowers: white, yellow, blue and purple.

And of course there were several larches, some even used to mark the trail.

After a few kilometers of walking we reached a mountain hut peacefully surrounded by trees and with the rocky dolomites as the natural backdrop.

Right before we stopped for launch I noticed the shadow of a flower on a rock with a fallen leave perfectly places on the shadow of the flower’s stem and decided to snap a photo.

On the way back we got the change to view the trail we walked in the morning from a different perspective.

On the way home I was very glad I had the chance to spend a nice day immersed in nature and surrounded by larches.
