By the river: Shadows, Patterns and Textures

With temperature on the rise I took a stroll to a nearby stream looking for some coolness and good pictures.

For this photowalk I paired my camera with a Sigma 24mm super-wide ii 2.8 adapted from the Nikon mount which gives a 36mm equivalent field of view on APSC.

Given the mostly harsh light I opted agaon for B&W and spent a good amoount of time searching for interesting shadows and textures.

The first composition that caught my eye was a small pool by the side of the river right under some trees casting the shadow of their leaves on the shallow water. I looked for different angles and these are the best ones I could find.

Next I played around with the movement of water that in some parts of the stream created interesting abstract patterns.

I also noticed how different rocks had completely different textures, with different lines and veins.

The position of certain stones with respect to the sun created compelling gradients of light on their surface.

Others still were facing directly the sun and this created some strong shadows and very crisp textures.
