Afterwork Sunset Stroll

Longer days are without a doubt one of the most cherished gifts of summer. The 18+ hours of daylight in June means I can come home from work and still have plenty of time to go out and enjoy the warm sun. And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing recently.

There is nothing quite as refreshing as laying down on the grass in a field at sunset to decompress after a day in the office. Usually I only take a book with me but this time I also brought my camera along.

The field where I typically go to lay down was recently mowed and the edge where the cut section met the uncut one caught my eye.

Next I came across a daisy flower soaking up the last rays of light before sunset. Even though the steam is somewhat of a leading line to the flower itself the overall composition isn’t spectacular but I still like the warm tone of the image.

Nearby I found another flower glowing in the sun. What caught my attention in this case was the short air on the steam as it was incredibly crisp and vivid in real life. Unfortunately I didn’t have my macro lens with me so this is the best I could capture.

Also the leaves higher up on the trees were cheerfully enjoying the warm light. Also here the light works well but the composition again could have been better. It’s not super clear what the subject is and the layers don’t work well together.

Lastly I snapped a photo of the sign by the side of the road. The angle works well and the golden sunset light added a touch of magic to the scene.

These images won’t win any prize any time soon but I’m still glad I took my camera with me to capture these simple moments of daily life.
